Blog
Welcome to "The Gun Surgeon's" Blog (what a name . . . "Blog"!)
Here you can experience the general ramblings of a Gunsmith to include cussin and discussin what is going on in the shop which certainly could contain some "cussin", current shop projects, lessons learned and tips for firearm owners, what is in the news and the state of the U.S.A. as I see it.
May contain information regarding saving you some money as it relates to firearms, outdoor activities or perhaps safety and survival items such as product reviews and such.
If there is something you would lke me to discuss drop me a line and let me know and I will see what I can do.
Since I do not know who will be reading this (if anyone) I will do my best to keep it G rated but be advised that from time to time depending upon the topic I may toss out some PG or even some occassional R ratings here folks but I will do my best to keep that to a bare minimum.
Lastly you will probably notice many typo's thoughout. Rest assured it really has nothing to do with my spelling abilities as much as it does that my secretary is always out of the office!
I hope you enjoy and find this worthwhile.
Regards,
Mark

The big one!
Posted on October 27, 2016 at 6:55 AM |
Last week was spent with my aunt and uncle in Nashville, TN. My uncle and I had some time to do a bit of fishing and I caught the biggest Large Mouth Bass I have ever caught. It was around 5 1/2 to 6 lbs. and put up a great fight! Since they are not really that great to eat and some big Bass tournaments are held on that lake I let it go. But I did get some pictures of it and we also caught a nice mess of Stripes and one nice Blue Catfish for the frying pan! As al...

Hi folks,
I know it has been a few days since I have written. I have actually been out of state on other business, Fort Worth, Texas to be exact. It was a good and uneventful trip which in my book is always good!
I have been working on one of my customers guns this morning to remove a broken screw from a forearm piece on a Ruger 10/22 Takedown. Now this is a tiny little screw threaded into plastic. There is very little this tiny little screw has to hold on ...

Good afternoon everyone. Discussing politics on here is probably not the smartest thing to do but after the past few days watching the news I am just sick as to what is happening to our country! We are tearing ourselves apart AGAIN over race issues. I believe everyone needs to put themselves in each other’s shoes and look at the issues through the eyes of those you disagree with or of those that you cannot understand why they feel the way they do and THEN do what you think is right.

Well our Grand Opening went pretty well and as expected. It was also our first time down at the Mad River Armory & Range in Springfield, OH for our "Meet & Greet" as well and it went better than expected. There were lots of folks there and Sylvia was spoiling them all with her homemade Oatmeal Rasin cookies leaving not a single one for me on the drive home! LOL
We will be back there this Saturday evening again from 5pm to 6pm so I hope you can stop in an s...

Today is the day! The Long awaited "Grand Opening"!
I must say that there are a lot of people that have helped me reach this point that have supported me with their love and understanding and physically assisted me with remodeling my shop from the disaster it was into the professional Gunsmithing Shop that it is today!
#1 has been my wife (Sylvia). Not once did she complain about all the hours I have spent studying or work...
